- Portugal coach Paulo Bento announced the list of players who will he engage in
the European Cup this year. Two of the 23
players selected were
not previously defended
A Seleccao.
Both
players are Miguel Lopes (defender)
and Custodio (midfielder), from the club
SC Braga. They get a
"reward" this glittering
appearance thanks to help his
team finish third in
the domestic league.
"Custodio
Lopez and performed very well for his club during the second half of the season,"
said Bento in his
press conference in Lisbon
on Monday (5/14/2012).
"Custodio has different characteristics with other midfield-midfield.
Lopes strong in defense and attack, and can
play in two wings."
Portugal will start with the Euro against Germany on June 9,
before the duel against Denmark and the Netherlands in Group B. Prior to the Poland-Ukraine
they will berujicoba against the Republic of
Macedonian on May 26 and Turkey
on June 2.
"We'll go
as far as we can. It is
not without reason that we say that future European champions will be found from our group," said Bento
quoted from the official website of the
tournament.
